76 Minutes And 24 Seconds Of Your Life You’ll Want Back

Or not. If you want to listen to two people sitting on comfortable looking chairs (house plant behind them) talking about one person’s career, then this might be your cup of tea.

Michael Malone gets Carol Bartz talkey about her life at the Computer History Museum. Pretty boring discussion and very depressing to think of the many opportunities in the computer automated design engineering software industry that I refused in order to chase the dreams of shoveling dirt and breathing dust.  That’s a lie — I was never into that computer junk — but it’s still fascinating to listen to this woman’s career.

It’s all here: born female; losing a parent early on; raised by grandma on a dairy farm in Wisconsin; puking on a sidewalk in front of a Sausalito office; breast cancer; and managing a successful software company that designs roads, bridges and buildings.

Here’s Michael Malone’s silicon insider site at ABC news and a podcast at Instapundit  talking about his book Bill and Dave: How Hewlett and Packard Built the World’s Greatest Company .
